Here is my two cents on Potensic. I had my hopes up for this drone. It was a lot of bang for the bucks o I took a chance. I ordered the Atom 2 fly more package. Well, when it arrived I was very impressed. It seemed very well built. It really looded good for another mini drone. I charged it up, which didn't take to long in their propriatory charger. The bag was as expected. But the controller was something different. Dog bone style. Your monitor goes in between the handles. Controlls were a little backwards, but can be changed.
Time for the first flight. This little drone was very impressive. Liftoff it went straight up and hovered tightly. I flew it around and really started to like this one. Videoing in night mode is great. It had all of the bells and whistles. It flew very nice. It takes very good pictures and videos.
After several days the only thing that botherd me was no nd filters. Yes, you could use ones made for other drones, but to me they never really fit right. But they have fixed that now if you can get your hands on one.
So here I have an excellent drone. I flew it almost every day waiting for it to fall apart. No such thing. Even after a few "hard landings" the drone performed great. Untill.....I really goofed. I broke an arm and the camera gimbal was all out of wack. So I get intouch with Potensic. Things seemed to go slow, but they are across the world and are working when I am in bed. And boy am I glad that I bought the extended warrenty that they offer. It took about two weeks because they would ask for something and I would not get that until the morning. By the time that I replyed, it was all ready the next morning before I would get anotyer reply back. BUT, they did an outstanding Job at getting me a new drone once everything they asked me to do failed.

So GREAT job for making a fantastic little drone. And GREAT job on the warranty work, even if it took a little time. I am very impressed, and I think anyone ordering the Atom 2 will be too.

I’ve owned the Atom 2 for about 6 months. I live on a farm and use it to inspect fencing and keep an eye on livestock, it’s a work horse. This is my 1st drone and there's always a learning curve. I also suffer from reduced coordination- I'm just lousy at flying these things. I've crashed into one thing or another at least 4 times. The drone's survivability is very good. I usually just pick it up, maybe recalibrate the compass and off we go to find something else to crash into. Well, while herding an escaped horse back into the correct pasture, I failed to see an eye level branch and wham! Had to go shut the gate anyway, found the drone on its back exactly where the app indicated it was. Ooh, it had a broken leg, chipped blades and the camera gimble was locked up. It returned a “Gimble Error” that would not clear- see video. So, I called Potensic customer service. They instructed me to send a few pictures to determine the extent of the damage and if it was repairable. I did and they got back to me quickly explaining the repair process. I’ve got to send it off but so far, they’ve been very accommodating. They estimated the repair cost to be $110. Which I think is a reasonable amount.

I just can’t tell you how happy I am with the quality of this drone. The camera is outstanding. The wind stability is even more outstanding. I’ve flown it in winds definitely up to 15 miles an hour with Gusta 20 and the camera was rock solid so far my furthest flight away was 6000 feet and I decided to test the return to home. It landed within 2 inches of where it took off this drone by far is the best value of any drone on the market and is comparable to DJI drones that cost 3 to 4 times the amount. PRETENDS TO GET THEM TO IS SIMPLY AN OUTSTANDING PRODUCT AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT POTENSIC OFFICE IS SECOND TO NONE.

I don’t write reviews often, but Potensic has earned this one.

Over the past year, I’ve put more than 500 miles of flight time on Potensic drones after switching over from DJI. That wasn’t a casual decision. I rely on drones for real use, not just occasional hobby flights, so reliability, control, and support matter.

The performance has been consistently solid. Stable flight, dependable connection, and a platform that does what it’s supposed to do without overcomplication. For the price point, it’s hard to justify anything else.

What really stood out, though, was customer support.

I had an issue with a remote, and Potensic replaced it quickly and at no cost. More recently, I used their Potensic Care program after a crash, and the replacement process was straightforward and handled professionally. No runaround, no unnecessary friction. They did what they said they would do.

That combination matters. A good product gets your attention. Good support earns your trust.

If you’re comparing options and wondering whether to make the jump from DJI or another brand, Potensic is absolutely worth serious consideration

I have flown six different drones in the $40-400 price range, and so far this one is my favorite for several reasons. I highly recommend owning this one!

Build quality is exceptionally great, considering the price tag. The controller feels solid, with high quality materials and a tight fit on the buttons and joysticks. I'm using a "plus" sized iPhone, and the controller is able to hold it while in its Otterbox Defender case. The drone isn't excessively heavy feeling, but feels sturdy. The arms unfold with a satisfying detent holding them in position for flight. The battery latch has registered securely every time without any problems with it coming lose, even with my one crash at around 10 MPH into a solid wall (my fault, not a result of the drone). I have crashed it a few times by snagging small tree branches, and it hasn't sustained damage beyond a few small witness marks to the propeller blades. I haven't had to replace the propeller blades yet.

I chose the package with three batteries. The charger will fully charge all three batteries and the controller in about 1.5-2 hours. Each battery gives me around 20 minutes of flight in the middle speed setting. When doing longer-distance flights, I'm logging around 2.5 miles per flight. I have logged 36 miles on 89 flights so far, and it's been a delight to fly every time! My longest flight (as the crow flies) is over 4,000 feet, and I still had strong signal. That's with me taking off in the middle of the dense forest and flying just above the tree tops. It's hard to see it that far away, but I can still just barely keep a clear line-of-sight.

You get three speed modes to choose from - Video, Normal, and Sport. All three are easy to control, very responsive, and give options for making every flight fun and a new adventure. While flying on sport mode, I was able to chase and keep up with a 4-wheeler at 25 MPH while keeping it in frame and having super stable video. The video quality is good enough that I could have easily used this drone when I used to do professional videography. In the Video mode, movements are slowed way down, producing super smooth movements to prevent motion sickness from your viewers. The joysticks and gimbal's pitch allow feathering of input for infinite speed feathering to get the pan, push, or pull you want just right.

GPS is quick to pair. When popping in a fresh battery, I choose to wait for GPS lock and perform a compass calibration every time. From inserting the battery to takeoff usually takes me about 3 minutes to get GPS and calibrate the compass when the sky is clear. With a fully cloudy sky, I can still get GPS, but it takes a couple minutes longer. When flying under the tree canopy, I lose GPS sometimes. This causes the drone to abruptly slow to a crawl, which could ruin a video clip, but at least it can still be moved around with full control still. I have not lost signal or reached low battery to test the return to home function yet. The app works great. No complaints with it so far. The ID beacon is built in, but doesn't require it to be enabled to fly (my flights are exempt from the requirements). The "AI" smart shots are awesome! They work great, tracking dirt bikes and 4-wheelers at speeds up to around 10 MPH.

Negative things about this drone - there aren't many! The unit's propellers & motors are certainly noisier than most other drones I have flown, but that noise from the strong power comes in handy when I get hit by a 10 MPH cross wind, and the drone doesn't even flinch. If it weren't for the instrument HUD showing my roll, pitch, and yaw, I wouldn't even know it was in heavy wind. It just takes it. This strength makes up for the noise in my mind. Taking off at sunset (when the sun's just below the tree line) can be tricky. If the camera senses low light (but still light enough to see well enough to fly safely), it disables takeoff. My workaround is to point the camera towards bright lights when the drone is on the ground and about to take off. I wish I could fly whenever I want, regardless of light conditions. The only light on the drone is a RGBW LED at the tail, so flying in darkness is not easy. The camera has a smart night shot mode, but it doesn't provide much improvement in dim conditions.

The $400 kit costs as much as the cheapest DJI, but I get 3 batteries. At that price point, I am fully satisfied with this versus the DJI simply because I want to keep flying it after the first flight! The video quality and gimbal stabilization is on-par with the DJI systems I have seen (in this lower price point). Max speed is 35 MPH in my tests, which is plenty fast for what I'm doing. So far I've flown nearly a mile away with no lag in video quality. Even considering the couple negatives, I still feel it's well worth the price. Such a delight to fly. I want to buy another, just to let family fly with me.

I picked up the Potensic ATOM 2 and got to fly it in a few different scenarios over the weekend — and honestly, I’m extremely impressed.

What stood out right away:

Picture quality: Photos and video look sharp and clean, way better than I expected at this price.

Ease of flight: Super intuitive to fly, stable, and confidence-inspiring even with only a few days of experience.

AI tracking + photo features: The tracking and “smart” shooting features are excellent and make it easy to capture shots that look professional without a ton of effort.

Speed: It moves! I’ve seen it hit around 35 mph, which is more than enough for action shots and getting where you want quickly.

Vertical shooting mode: Huge bonus if you create content — it has vertical mode for social media/Instagram-style clips.

I’ve only had the drone a short time, but my early impression is that this is a fantastic value. I have zero regrets choosing it over a much more expensive DJI, and I’m genuinely excited to keep flying it and capturing more photos and videos.

Highly recommended if you want strong performance and features without paying premium-brand pricing.

I have been flying RC helicopters for over 20 years and drones for over 10 years. Recently my original DJI Mavik died after nearly 10 years of faithful service. I went on a quest to find the best drone in the under 249 grams category. I did not want to bother with registering and licensing. This drone fits every category very nicely. Price point, advanced features, quality, flight characteristics and fluidity of controls, ease of use and easy connectivity. I believe anyone would do well with this drone from beginner to advanced. The pictures are high quality as is the video.

The only place it falls a little short is the speed of flight. This is definitely not a deal breaker for me as I am not chasing cars or motorcycles. I mainly use it for construction documentation and personal photography. Don't let the price fool you this drone is great in the wind and comes with 3 batteries so you get plenty of flight time. It does not have object avoidance system, which I do not want because I get close to things on purpose. If you are looking for a small travel drone that is packed with features and quality at an affordable price, this one is worth every penny!

This Potensic Atom 2 drone is super fun and really easy to fly. The 4K video is awesome—super clear and sharp, whether you’re flying in daylight or at night with decent lighting. I weighed it on my kitchen scale with the batteries, and it’s about 250 grams, even with a few Velcro stickers I stuck on for some nighttime LEDs.
I’ve flown this thing in some pretty strong winds, like class 4 or 5, and it held up great. It even gave me motor warnings once, but the video stayed steady when hovering. In heavy winds, the video can get a bit shaky, but this drone does a solid job keeping itself stable. It’s rated for class 5 winds, and I believe it. I flew it a full mile line of sight, and my remote still had three bars of signal—pretty impressive for a small drone.
Now, a quick heads-up: always check your airspace. I live near a naval base, and helicopters fly low, like 200 feet above me. The drone’s noise isn’t too bad, and just so you know, it doesn’t record sound with the video.
Okay, here’s the good and the bad. Bad news: this drone doesn’t like water. I messed up and got it stuck in a tree, and it fell into a river for like 10 seconds. Good news: it’s flying fine now! I pulled the battery out right away, dried it out for a couple of days on my air purifier set to high, and it was good to go a week later. Sadly, the battery that got wet is toast, but I’d rather lose a $50 battery than a $400 drone. If you ever get it in saltwater, rinse it with fresh water first to avoid corrosion.
Overall, this drone is a blast and super easy to use. Watch a few videos to get the hang of the features, check the propeller screws, and do your calibrations. It’s basic stuff, but it keeps things safe. This little drone is small but packs a punch!
